Default 1986 ECM location

Looks like it's right above the passenger side where the feet go. Thought I'd ask before tearing everything apart.

thanks in advance!

That is where it is. Start by removing hush panel on pass. side. then look up. Are you getting a code?

Unless you are small it may be worth removing the passenger seat to give you more room.

I'm still getting an intermittent code 24 (Vehicle Speed Sensor) on my '86. The light comes on whenever it likes, typically when I'm just cruising with no significant throttle or just after I've backed off on the throttle. I've replaced the VSS on the transmission and reseated the connectors on the dash electronics. I'm not small so I'm guessing that I need to improve my gymnastics routine to check the connectors on the ECM.

Going to try using a mirror 1st on my 86L, before pulling the seat and since this is my first time removing the ECM I hope it makes it easier then can do it by feel- it is now March 25, 2019 my how time passes. UPDATE: The mirror & flashlight work fine THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO DO . . .IS to reinstall without the connections plugged in, makes the job simple and you won't jam up your
temperature control cable (a rookie mistake)

Did it fix your VSS code issue?
