I know these things were discussed before and I looked online but can't find anything (yet) relating to my specific situation.
C4 Corvette - 1985.
Last night my right signal light stopped working (the left works fine). I noticed the arrow on my dashboard would just stay lit, instead of flash. And the bulbs outside stay lit, but don't flash. The bulbs seem fine because when I turn on my hazard lights they all flash (With the exception of the rear tail light because that has a blown bulb for a month now and I don't know how to access it).
Is this an indication of a bad flasher (and where is the flasher, under the right hand side of the dashboard? I'm not sure because the left works fine. The Haynes repair manual says that if one side of the signal lights don't work and the flasher doesn't make a noise, then it indicates a bad bulb. but in my case I don't think it's the bulbs if the hazard lights work.
You'd be surprised...replace the front right signal bulb and see what happens.
Access the rear bulb sockets by removing the tag and reaching in and through the bumper.....this will be a bit of an effort. Replace all 4 lamps at the same time so you don't have to make a repeat performance on a regular basis.
Replace your blown bulb, and all will be restored in the world. pull off your license plate, and take out the nearest tail light to get to the farthest one.
Ok guys thanks. (I know it seems common sense to replace a bulb but I guess in a case like this I was pretty confused). I will try to replace the front bulb soon and see what happens. Today's a holiday in Canada so nobody's open.
Argh! So I switched around the bulbs in the front (swapped the left side and right side) and my right side still doesn't flash so I determined it's not the bulbs.. unless one of the rear bulbs affects it but I dfoubt it because the rear tail light has been out for a month.
I replaced the rear tail light bulb which was burnt out for a month, and now the signal lights flash again. WEIRD, because that tail light was burnt out for a month now, and it was only last night that the signal lights stopped working. These cars are funny aren't they?
Now all I gotta do is get the rear tail socket back in place, which is a real b*tch (it's the furthest one on the end) but just wanted to thank you guys for the help.
