Default Muffler size?

Im looking at some spintech pro street mufflers on ebay and was wondering what size I should get for my '88.
Not too much the pipe size but if theres a certain size case needed to fit the C4.

Im overseas right now so calling isnt the easiest thing. I plan on putting them where the stock mufflers sat so I dont think it will be that much of a problem.

The thing is you want the outlet pipes on the mufflers to extend past the rear bumper. If not, resonance will be worse so overall length is critical.

I don't know what this means. Your tailpipe simply needs to ends beyond the bottom of the the rear bumper. No, all your pipes don't need to be 3". In fact it's probably not a good idea. 2.25" to 2.5" is plenty big.

SpinTechMufflers has a website. (Just add www + com) to what I typed.

It's a brand of muffler I've considered using for a belly installation. But, their cases don't look nice enough (IMO) to hang at the rear where you can see them.

So even though my cutouts are 3 inch I dont have to have 3 in piping? How does that work?

I don't know the exact exhaust you are planning but a step down in pipe size toward the rear of the system is certainly an option. I assume the cut outs are near the header outlets near the front of the system.

I think most people running cutouts (on C4 vettes) have opted to install them where piping exits the belly and turns outward. They have the cutouts continue straight. The problem with cutouts up front is ground clearance. About the only direction to fire them is down/out and that's cutting into your ground clearance.

You can get/make just about any adapter you want. If you want to use 2.25" or 2.5" pipe, you can fit adapter(s) in/out of a "Y" cutout assmbly or an adapter on your "Y" splitter to the cutout (depending on how it's made).

Did it come alone or with a "Y" splitter?
