Default Where to install MSD Box/Coil Blaster/Map Sensor.

The build is coming very close to turning over for the first time. We almost had the car started the other day, but we had a fuel issue.

I hope I can get some help from you guys. I would love to see some pictures in regards to where you guys installed your MSD box, coil, and Map Sensor. Some detailed pics of the brackets that you fabricated would be cool as well.

I saw where AKS Racing(aaron) placed his coil blaster behind the brake booster, but doesn't appear that it will fit at that location.

Below is what I have to work with.

Thanks!!!

That looks good. I put my MSD box on the front drivers side lower compartment area under the headlight,in front of the front tire.

And I put my map sensor on the passenger side of the firewall next to the distributor.

I mounted my 6AL in the bottom of the compartment behind the drivers seat and ran the wires thru grommets with WeatherPak connectors and then made a harness and ran it up behind the drivers side rocker panel to the ignition and necessary connections; completely hidden and nothing extra in the engine compartment. My DFI Gen 7 I mounted up behind the dash with two brackets I made; again, completely hidden so as to not clutter up the gals engine compartment. My MAP sensor I mounted with a small simple bracket to the back of the plenum on my S/R (your intake might be different but with some careful thought you should be able to fab a bracket that will integrate as if OEM I'm certain). I hid my DFI WB O2 controller under the battery box to the frame rail, which unfortunately I don't have a good photo of. I would think your coil might fit well on the RH rear corner of the intake like the small cap L98's coils are mounted.

Good Luck with you project, I'm sure it will turn out great.

I've seen FAST mounted where the battery is, battery relocated obviously.

I've also seen them mounted inside via a hole in the firewall to keep it cool.
Mounted where the 'breadbox' was.

I'll be mounting my FAST inside the breadbox sort to speak (interior of car). It wont be in plan view, and the tuning cable will come out near the fuses. So glad I went with the FAST rather then the chip burning route. Just the fact that I'll be able to tune each individual cylinder is worth the small headaches. Should look slick.....

Worst comes to worst. I'll have to trailer the car to Detroit and have Dan the Man from White's Racing tune it.

Rick, what did you decide?

I can send better pics and a sketch, or I can have a buddy of mine make one for anyone that would want the bracket that I have.

I can take my bracket to my buddy and he can make as many as anyone wants, they are made of SS, he will determine a cost.

I would expect that he could have some ready to ship by the end of next week of not sooner.

Larry. I am just at the cottage so I can't take pics of where I put the MSD blaster coil.

The reason I say that is because if it doesn't interfere with the bracket then I would buy one if the cost isn't too high and it looks good.

Can you send me a few pics as soon as you can because if this is something that makes sense then I would like to install it asap, and get this car running.

Thanks.

I will post some close up pics in a little bit, and I will give my bracket to my buddy and ask him for a price on Monday when I see him.

The bracket is .060" thick SS x 8.5" long by 4.25" wide with a 1.25" tab bend down on one end. Then the cross bracket is welded on at the same angle as the brace bar. There is one bolt on the firewall that you would remove and use that bolt to attach the bent tab to the firewall, then you would transfer a hole and drill and tap the hole in the brace.

Don't pay any attention to the pic of the underside of the bracket, we added length to the top plate after cutting it short on the first try
