I found my passenger side front carpet soaking wet ... and it doesnt seam to dry up. After doing some research, I found the leak but I dont know where it may be seeping trough. When I shoot the water hose trought the wipers vents, water start to run down the back wall undernieath the dash..... alot of water... I think it might be my windshield but it doesnt make sense..... please HELP!
I hate to think that I would have to pull the entire dash and console to find the leak.....
no ,it does it with the car turned off . I tried the garden hose and hosed down the windshield wipers area , ( the vents for outside fresh air) and then the water starts to run down inside the car. the entire back wall padding is soaked.
I looked in there..... it seems like they are fine, I will specifically target them ( the drains ) tomorrow. Would this creat such a flood inside the car... ( I am affraid that every time it rains, I will be driving a fish tank!! I am kind a frusted a bit ... I will restore this car to its original condition... And thanks a buch for your help and support !
yours is a problem shared by many and accordingly there are many posts on the sublect.
my own experience was a waterfall in the passenger foot well. it wasn't the windshield.
it was the three drain tubes in the cowl area being plugged, allowing water to back up and enter the HVAC system.
the problem was then compounded by the fact that the large tube draining the the fan housing was completelly clogged, allowing the water to carry over into the first available vent which is located in the passenger footwell.
Yes on first checking the drain tubes. It's the easiest place to start and should be done once a year anyways, especially if you live in leafy area.
Then take a look at the cowl/hood gasket. That is the thing that looks like a giant sgueegee and runs from the left side of the car to the right. It's purpose is to catch the gallons of water that run down the windshield and keep it from running down your firewall. If this thing allows water to pass to the firewall, there are a few electrical plugs and cable grommets water can easily get in.

I think the above information is on the basic right track.
I had a similar situation where the drain hose for the evaporator was clogged up. A wire coat hanger and some safety wire got the debris out and the problem was resolved.
