Default Super Ram / Accel base sensor / Port Help

Hi guys, long time i haven't post one of my adventures, well you missed me ...Im back !!!

Today i spent nice quality time with my friend Jerry (tpi421vette's Brother) putting together my Super Ram for my 87 L98.

Well,like always some questions appeared.

Super Ram Install is not that hard as i always read, you have to be patient and work slow on it and that's it. Well thanks god that's not the problem.

When i sold the original TPI unit,i kept all the sensors so i don't have nothing to worry about,9 months are too much for my memory so here i will need your help guys !!!

The Super Ram plenum has a sensor underneath that i plugged to a cable with 2 wires. Later i will need to know where the heck do they go attached to.

Sadly i don't have a good picture of my old stock base but .....here we go.
i have a picture of the new Accel base.

I see a sensor under the coolant tube right? what's that ?
i have another one of those...i guess...is it the same as pic # 2 ?
I see 2 capped holes as well...

I remember a sensor on my original TPI ...which is posing on the thermostat area which i called "the mistery sensor" ...that sensor pigtail ...i remember that had a clip very much like the injector one. (Pic #3)
Where do i hook that...??? i cant remember !!! im guessing under the fuel line attaching bolts ...on the
passenger's side cap...but im not really sure !

Picture # 2

Old Picture of my GM BASE AND SENSOR

Finally i have 3 ports and a hole on the Back of the Super Ram
is one of them for the Adjustable fuel pressure regulator ???
What's their use ?

Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think your mystery sensor is on my '89. That makes me think it's the cold start sensor. It can go where your left cap is.

From the link below, it looks like your coolant temp sensor (under the water nipple), goes where the left cap is and the CSS goes where you currently have the coolant sensor. But I doubt having them reversed makes a difference.

http://www.hotrodlane.cc/PDFFILES/TPIStory.pdf

The two smaller vacuum ports provide vacuum for your fuel regulator and A/C. (A/C vacuum connection is in rear engine harness btw.) The large vacuum port might be for brake booster. On a normal TPI, brake booster sucks air from left rear corner of plenum.

You won't need the threaded hole. That's for the MAP bracket on 90-91 cars.

BTW...The right cap is just a bolt hole where the AIR pipe used to connect.

Gregg,is the CSS attached to the manifold front ? i really have no idea
I have now a new fuel rail with No CSS and my SR does not have a CSS
so its useless now,so if the mistery sensor its actually CSS then i guess
i won't be installing it. I don't have A/C anymore,i deleted it , so i guess
i will be capping one more hole !
My SR plenum has a connection on left rear corner as well.
My bet is i will be capping all of them except for one which i can use for the fuel regulator.
What you say ? Thanks !!!

If others know more about the css please chime in thanks !!!!!!!

Just did a search on ebay...and it looks like it !!!

Sammy, your mistery sensor is the CSV's thermo/time switch. Plug the port and deal with the connector as you like. I cut it off and taped the wires into loom.
The coolant sensor is mounted below coolant line port.
You will still need HVAC vacuum for control of vents and water control valve.
Use the port on drivers side for booster and 2 ports on pass side for reg and HVAC.

Thanks Agent ,mistery solved then ..one more doubt here...
Booster is fine.
Now for the other "right side ports" i will do the same as your SR
i will cap the upper hole and third port.
I will use only 2,one for the Regulator, does it go straight to it ? or i have to share it
with a T Fitting or something ? ...and the other one where does it go ?
Thanks !

Yes, straight to reg. The HVAC port goes to the check valve/Tee at back of intake(DS).
As for the MAT sensor under plenum, there should be the matching connector from the stock setup.

I use one of the rear ports for my map sensor. Your car probably uses a maf and is not speed density system so you wouldn't need the map. By brake booster port comes from a fitting on the intake manifold between cylinders 3 and 5.

On yeah, now I remember. I'm not running a pcv and used that port because it's closer to the booster.

The car is trailered to the strip so I don't need emissions stuff. I'm running a breather in each valve cover. I'm thinking of adding an evacuation system to suck out all the poo.

If your talking about the MAT sensor I mentioned earlier, it connects to the connector that plugged into the MAT sensor from stock plenum.
If I recall correctly, the MAT sensor wiring has an extension to another connector, so the MAT can be diagnosed without trying to get to connector under plenum. That extension plugs into connector near DS of dizzy.
Did you leave any wiring connected to you old plenum ?

As far as I know, early MAF L98's only used the MAT sensor for use in EGR operation, but removing it will cause an SES light. That's the only reason I put mine back into the SR.
