Default Later style window regulators

List of quiestions:

Will they ever break/wear out?

Same speed or faster than ribbon?

Do they take up more space/provide more material in the door than the ribbon style?

I just bought two brand new ones and am dumping my ribbon ones! I can't wait to get them installed. I am laying dynamat against the inner door shell then in go the window regulators, then that steel piece, then some foam insulation/mildew preventer, then new door panels! Also, outer seals will be put on to protect the regulators from debris and rain.

You will love the new regulators. They seem faster to me but that may be because my old ones were worn out. I had a little trouble getting the right side adjusted on the bottom, you may have to elongate the bolt holes there to adjust yours but hopefully not. I ended up pulling the assembly in as far as I could to make the window hit the weatherstrips right. That side was done by the PO and most everything he did I have gone back thru and fiddled with to get it to work right.

I dont think the regulator is failure prone, its pretty simple scissor type mechanism. Make sure you put a little lithium grease in the roller track to keep it smooth. Follow the directions and all will be good. Dont know if it will mention it but ou will probly have to adjust the wiring a little but it still should be long enough if you release it from the clips. You will have to raise and lower it a little to get it installed so the wires need to be plugged back in during assembly. If you need a window adjustment guide, I have a good write up another member gave me and I am glad to pass it on. Shoot me yer email and I will send it out.

Good luck and have fun!

Thank you very much for your reply. My mechanic is installing it as he has done it many times before and I honestly don't have the time. Even my weekends are booked up. The windows are so out of whack right now it has scratched up the tint so once the new regulators are in, it will be getting retinted. I already put in new window bumpers but that didn't stop the scratching the tint unfourtanatley. Oh well, live and learn.

I had to replace both of mine, so yes they do wear out.

Getting them in/out was not exactly simple either.

Tell the mechanic to check the window sweep hardware if the scratches are deep. Another dumbazz PO moment, he used some kinda huge rivet with a head about the size of a dime and along with the misaligned window bumpers it scratched the **** outa the window.
