Default Automatic A/C Only Adjusts Temp Up, Temp Down Not Working

Just don't understand. This is driving me crazy. For some reason, the A/C temp button will only adjust up, to a hotter temp. It will not adjust back down to 60. Now, the button worked yesterday and I was able to adjust it down to 60. Before that it worked intermittantly. But them my wife must have driven the car and she adjusted the A/C temp up to 75. Now I can't get it to adjust back down to 60. I held the down arrow for a few seconds an it actually started adjusting the temp up to 80. Now it's set at 80.
Somone please tell me what I am doing wrong or where to fix this stupid down arrow switch??!??!?! The A/C works. It blows cold. It was blowing cold yesterday. I have a new compressor, evap, and screen and it was just recharged. There is not a problem there with the works of the A/C unit except the temp control down button.
I have also noticed that sometimes the horn buttons work and sometimes they don't. Is this a fuse issue? Are the two problems related? Are the automatic A/C units prone to this happeneing to them?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes Mike, you rock. I have seen many of your posts and I gather that you are a bit of a Corvette Guru. I aspire to be one too. I am a new Vette Owner, just since this August.
Since then I have had a bad Radiator cap, which sucked like 6 hoses closed. Had to replace cap and hoses. PITA. Then the A/C compressor Blew.. I replaced it and had a mechanic clean and recharge the system. Today I went to start it and the Brand NEW BoSCH battery blew. Went to replace that and I found a vacuum hose right there by the battery with a hole worn in it. And then the A/C button thing happened. I Personnaly don't mind doing the work to fix it. My wife thinks this car is going to be a disaster. I told her it has 60600 miles on it and things are gonna go wrong. She wants me to replace the beige seat belts with black ones and maybe replace the carpet and seat coveers.
It's just alot to handle in a short period of time.
I love this forum where I can get the info I need, usually very quickly I might add. Thank you, thank you, AND I will try the search function first next time.

That procedure worked for mine Just make sure you get the linkage for the gear selector indicator back on or you'll have to take everything apart again. Ask me how I know It's just a fork like thing that goes over a rod to move the indicator. Nothing complicated or I couldn't have done it
