Default Relocation for a job: How long does it take?

In other words, what is a realistic answer when asked when I would be available to start?

I have worked in the same place my whole career and have moved across town but not cross country.

Edit: Sorry about posting in the wrong forum, guys. I really should change my bookmark to OT!

Depends on what your company offers. Will a company sponsored broker sell your house or are you on your own? If not, and you have to hurry up to get it ready for market, I ask for 60 days. And will they give you temp housing or an allowance for xx days while you look for new digs? Is it a rotational (3 years) or permanent move? Will they help with a bridge loan if you are buying and settle before your house is sold? Relo used to be a good career move in some companies but if you are set in your community, there is no pot at the end of the rainbow and your position is secure, think hard about not doing it. That's a short answer to a complicated situation. Remember, they have their best interest at heart, not yours. Good luck.

N/A at the moment. I should have mentioned that this would be for a new job. Most of those points are probably still relevant, though, and good to think about. Thanks!

2wks notice plus 1wk to move. If in management, and extra week of notice is acceptable.

You can ask a mod 2 move this thread, btw.
