Trans Problem
Hello, Two days ago I was on the freeway when a person crossed two lanes while on a cell phone. This person didn't see me or the big rigg She almost hit. Avoiding hitting her I breaked hard, took the next lane and hit the gas. When I exited the freeway and came to a stop my car would'nt go into 3rd gear after that. Thought I shook up a bunch of junk in the trans pan and clogged the filter. Changed filter and oil. It seemed to help at first. After about 10 miles on the freeway (first run) I took an exit came to a stop with a repeat of the last problem. But, when it dont go into 3rd gear foored the gas and it takes off. Do you have any advice on this issue? Could it be the Throttle Value cable adjustment? Thank you for your time and replies.

Since your problem seems to be connected to driving on the freeway, my advice would be not to drive on the freeway.
I'm certain someone else will have better advice. I'm kinda tired right now, just got in from a four hour drive on the freeway!

You are not clear as to the problem? Is the car not shifting into 3rd gear or is the shifter not going into 3rd gear? If it won't shift into 3rd I would guess a something sticking in the valve body. Might try an additive for this problem.

Sorry for not being clear about that. It don't want to shift into 3rd gear. If I floor it it grabs and takes off. Only if I floor it! You think something is plugging it up? If so what additive is best?

Could possibly be a sticky valve? I have no specific product in mind. Check your local parts store would be a cheap fix if it works. That's all I have outside of a transmission repair shop.
