can anybody advise, i have a c4 manual transmission corvette
which is being restored. i have tried to get it started but i can,t
understand how the ignition lock works, it will not turn at all
their is a rod running from inside the top of column to the lower
column contact area .
how can i release the key to turn ignition on or override it
not gearstick linkage is also locked in reverse
finally is their a manual or on line pdf manual i can download
there is a small button at about 10 oclock on the ignition switch next to the key itself, make sure it is pushed in to pull the key out.. My 90 has vats.
Sounds like you may have an incorrect key. Has this key worked in the ignition switch before ??
The ignition switch, when turned, pushes that rod down to close the switch(starter circuit), at base of column.
It also unlocks the shifter via the park lock cable.
