Default A/O Engineering help

So I'm just about done getting the car back together and I decided to clean the filter. So after cleaning the filter I could not get the filter in and the lid onto the other part. This led to me taking it all apart except for removing the tube part that goes in from the front. It was pretty dirty in there. So now I got the filter in and tightened down but CAN NOT get that part down on the radiator shroud!! Anyone have any helpful hints, etc? This is so stupid of a problem...I wasted like 1.5 hrs today on this and its still not together!!

So where does it hit and not clear? I would say make sure the air cleaner lid is put together right first! I'm putting on a A O engeering system, car is far from being ready to run so haven't put everything completely together yet but air cleaner housing goes in very easy. I didn't have instructions on how to put it in so I may have done more cutting than I needed to . I cut out both metal bars between hood hinges, the straight top one and the V shaped one below it. I also trimed the sheet metal above on hood slightly to get my fingers down too the plastic ring area easier and I trimed apx. a 1" X 12" section out of the front edge of radiator cover where it hits the sheet metal between hindges.Found out later I could have made a triangle out of just center of front edge of cover and it would have been enough. With these the air cleaner housing drops right in. Is it possible not all of these cuts were made and it was just forced together last time? The thing I don't like about this system is how much you have to cut the bumper reinforcement, weaking it. Some have told me you need to pop rivet metal around hole to strenghten this area. Have you had any problems in that area? Thanks Tim

I haven't had any problems other then not getting the lid on with the filter in it then taking it apart. When I did the install I followed the instructions along with template to cut everything using a hole saw drill. No issues there. I did get it down today and tightened but basically had to push down really hard to get one of the twist things to go down far enough to tighten up. It is solid now and I'm leaving it the hell alone.
