My radiator in my 96 is leaking badly. :mad i can see it coming out.. I need one ASAP. Where can I get one? how much, And how long will it take me to swap it?? I've never had the radiator area apart.. I did put a new engine in my '89, so the skill is there.
It only took me like 1.5 hours to R&R mine and I live in an apt complex so I dont have a garage to work with. Running up and down the steps for more tools, kitty litter, and paper towels was the worst part.
FoolCrzy and mine are leaking in exact the same place, on the upper driver side....it kinda squirts out and all over the hood and engine (that stuff is agressive on underhood finish and dulls it permanently !!) and it leaks to the bottom.....I first thought it was the clamp or hose.......but no, it had to be the radiator..... on it....ooops sorry.....
I bought one for my 85 from NAPA. Comes with a lifetime warrantee, and it cost (with government employee discount) about $100. The core is thicker than the stock radiator. The stock radiator was 7/8", and the NAPA radiator is 1-3/8". Quite a difference. They did have to order it, but it only took a day to come in.
The larger Napa auto stores stock them. But shop around, there are deals to be found. Radiators are something that I don't enjoy shipping. I have bought radiators that came in damaged after a long wait. If I can buy one over the counter, I will do it even if it is a few dollars more. I would hate to wait a few more days for a replacement and risk a few more days for shipping damage replacement just to save a buck or two. In my case , it could be weeks instead of days.
Yeahhhhh !!!!! Got my radiator just now from http://www.radiator.com . Took them only a day to deliver. If you order before 3pm, you'll have it the next day for...listen to this.....only $9.00 delivery charge !! Man, these guys rock !! I checked http://www.speedyradiator,com but they were $10 more for the same radiator.
the new radiator is packed very well and looks and feels just like a new GM radiator.
I can only recommend these guys!!! :smash:
