It's a great pic, but it is NEVER shown on the car itself.
It appears from this pic that the tubing going from the turbo to the intercooler goes underneath the car frame when it leaves the turbo & then reappears near the battery section before going to the intercooler.
2) Does anyone know if the turbo has a brace to the back of the block to keep the tubing from cracking?
I know the turbo can't connect to the frame, nor just hang there. Something would crack. I'm wondering what the Callaway cars have on them for that problem, since the turbos appear to mount in the same location as this turbo.
These pics from the forum come close. I like the front setup better. The turbo could even be supported by an engine bracket. The problem is that this is an LS motor & not an L98. The biggest problem is that too much of the car is still missing in the engine compartment. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-f...-out-here.html
Actual pics of a single turbo on an L98 C4 would be greatly appreciated.
I'm looking for pics of a 88mm turbo setup in a C4. That is my next project. Not L98.. but I'll be using a Dart SBC block, pro-topline heads etc etc.. blow thru, e85. (similar to my previous TT Camaro)
The Callaway configuration is really nothing like that. Each turbo hangs from a log style manifold and is located right next to the bellhousing/transmission

Is that someone on this forum? If so, I'd like to talk to you about your setup.
I also saw that vid. It's pretty neat.
My main problem is that I am keeping my A/C, so I need to find a single turbo on the driver's side. Most people remove the A/C, put the turbo there, & then race (or else sweat ).
Thanks for the pics. It looks like I'd gain much room if I moved the alternator of my L98 in like the LT engine pics. I have a carb setup without emissions, so that should be no trouble. I'm really trying to decide on turbo location. I'm leaning towards the driver's side in the compartment below the headlight. My headlight is a fixed mount setup. I gained tons of room, & lost much weight. The front facia has air openings, so that might be a great location.
Anyone have pics of a single turbo on the driver's side of an L98?

These are probably the best pics I've seen of the actual turbos on the Callaway.
I'm leaning towards a more frontward mounting solution. That looks tight. It also seems that the Callaway has the turbos just hanging on the exhaust coming down with no expansion tubing anywhere to help prevent cracks.
I guess the fresh air intake is on the other side of the frame rails. In fact, it appears to go through the frame rails toward the side gill vents.
Those pictures are of the Sledgehammer which was obviously not the typical installation.
You are right though, the fresh air intake did run thru the front frame rail with the source being located either in the stock location or under the passenger headlight depending on the year.
Callaway also notched the frame to make the turbos fit and added a scavenge pump to move the oil b/c the turbos sat so low.
Thanks for the posts. Do you know of any with the turbo located someplace other than where the A/C goes? I need to keep my A/C.
I do not other than the two above. The easy part is locating the turbo, the pain is routing the DP. I plan to keep the a/c on my 85 but move it to the other side with a smaller alt and ps set up. Run the headers high and try to stuff a 4' DP low on the passenger side
Have you found a bonnet for your carb? Cutting the hood? What year is yours?
Nice pics.. I like the placement on some of these single turbo vettes. One thing I dont like is the rats nest of wires. Doesnt look neat. I'll have to make sure mine is tidy.
