Without reprogramming your fan's on/off your around town temps will be about the same as the stock 180* stat. But, the 160* stat will lower your highway temps by ~10*.
When changing to a 160* in a 93 do the fans and everything else involved work correctly ,or do new relays need to be changed as well.....xzo
You are going to need a new PROM burned for your ECM. You can set the on/off temp of the fans that way. Mine are 193 degrees ON - 183 degrees OFF. LT-1 with 283,000 miles on original engine, it runs 173 degrees on freeway and never goes over 193 degrees in traffic. Some say it is running too cold for a LT-1, but with 283K on it, I would say it runs great.
