Best Angle for Clutch Bleeding?
I had thought about the spacer issue, but instead of adjusting that, I took a different approach to getting more stroke out of the master. I put together a longer pushrod from a 5/16 carriage bolt and the eyelet end of the pushrod of my old master. I cut threads on the stub of the old pushrod and joined them with a coupling nut. Theoretically, this setup is adjustable, except that, with the 2.5" carriage bolt I used, I was only able to get the eyelet on the pivot with the pedal all the way up (quite a pit higher than the brake) and the coupling screwed in as far as it would go; using one more in the 2-2.25" range would probably provide some needed leeway.
I did have a little leakdown after getting around the block. I think I have a leaky bleeder on the slave which I may have been fighting the whole time. I had also managed to put a nice bend in the original pushrod on the new slave, which probably added to my problems.
I am sorry I didn't take a picture of the rod I made before I put it in the car, if I have the time, maybe I'll make a replica to post.
Thank you for your help, everyone! Now I should, at least be able to drive it onto the trailer to take to storage tomorrow.
Bill
