I need a little help in diagnosing my ac system. My compressor clutch wires shorted out and blew my ac fuse. I installed a new fuse and the heater controls came back but there is no power to my clutch anymore. I checked the low pressure switch. No power present but if I put 12v pos to the one side of the connector my clutch works. Did my climate control blow? or could it be a relay? ::
When AC is requested and certain conditions are met, the PCM enables
the AC clutch relay. It also monitors the output of the AC clutch relay
which applies 12 volts to the AC Clutch coil.
You said a wire going to the clutch coil was shorted and blew the AC fuse.
If that happened, the PCM would set DTC 69.
The manual doesn't say if that code disables the AC circuit. Clear the code
by disconnecting the negative battery cable for a couple of seconds and see
if the AC works.
Thank you very much for the help. I have never used my ac. I thought that it would come on by setting my temp down and have it on vent. It only comes on in auto mode. My old compressor was shot. I put on another but now my orriface tube seems to be clogged. Low pressure side goes way high and no cold air circulates. AC mech told me I need a new orriface and drier. They will be here next week and hopefully everything works then. The car is way to hot to ride in comfortably otherwise. Black On Black.

Make sure the A/C tech performs a thorough systems flush to rid it of any contaminants that are still in your lines and other parts.
You don't want to contaminate the new drier, compressor, and orifice tube. I would also have the tech pull a vacuum for 2 hours after the system has been flushed and before it's been charged with refrigerant to ensure all moisture has been purged from the system.
