HELP something must be wrong, installing new clutch
1989 6-speed: I worked all yesterday getting everything apart for my new spec clutch and single mass flywheel. However when I put the flywheel and clutch together it came with a brass fitting on the end of the alignment tool which looks sort of like a pilot bearing. It seemed to help align the tool once the clutch was on but... when I remove the tool after tightening everything down it falls down in between the clutch disk and flywheel?!? I can put the alignment tool back in and wiggle to get it back centered but this CAN'T be right can it? Whet the Hell is going on?
Tried getting the pdf installation guide from spec but their link must be broken because I can't even click on it on their website.
Please help before I can put the trans back. Seems like this brass thing will just get chewed up in a few miles when it starts to spin.
You'll need to get a slide hammer and pull the old PB out. For some reason all the parts stores around me had a puller claw that was too big for my 4x3 pilot bearing.
I had to buy one of the claws and then grind it with a dremmel to reshape it for my Pilot Bearing.
Not sure if the 6sp uses the same size.....I just wanted to give you a heads up as to what recently occurred with me.
I went at least 10 different parts stores but they all had the same size claw attachment.
