idle at 500?
Whe nwarm and in drive my car will idle at 500. I heard that under 700 the batt. starts to discharge. Is 500 too low?

I don't know about the battery discharging below 500, but I don't think it would be an issue since you surely spend a lot more time above 500 rpm than you do at a 500 rpm idle! As long as it dosn't want to die on you I don't see a problem.

Re: idle at 500? (Tim89)
My 86 idles at 500rpm when warm. The instructions I have for setting the base idle say to set it to 450rpm when warm and in gear, so 500 sounds about right.

My manuel states when adjusting TBI's it should adjust to 475. I've never seen that...but that is what the bhook says.

check the TPS voltage, but mine idles at 6-700rpm, yours may be a bit low but i dont see that its a major issue

Flip the dash sw to "Volts" and see if it's charging. Unless you have an underdrive crank pulley it should be ok.

Re: idle at 500? (65Z01)
hehe.... if i set my idle to 500, my car would just die. The cam requires about 650 or 700. I have mine at 775 when warm so that it's not toooo rough.

yeah, i'm not bad off at all.. other cams are much worse. I stalled it tonight once putting it into gear :). I should have it higher, but I like the sound of the low idle on a cammed car :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:
