My car(92 vette) has a sqweeky sound coming from the back whenever I corner, and sometimes when I accelerate. Could this be the rear hubs? Thanks for any help.
Sounds like dried suspension bushings. Check and replace all the suspension bushings.
but before you dive into that fun project, try this to confirm: Spray some WD40 onto and around the bushing areas of all 4 dogbones. If the sqeak goes away, you know for sure that it's time for new control rod bushings. Next in line to check would be the strut rods.
My '95 developed lots of rear end noises at about 90k. Speed bumps and cornering or just a bumpy road. Found that the sway bar end links were shot. Pita to replace but totally silenced the bothersome noises.
Found the problem by jacking up the rear end (supported on jack stands), removing the wheel then using a floor jack to lift the hub up and down. There must have been at least 1/2" of slop. All the rubber was gone.
Used a long bolt and some sockets as spacers to press out the old one and press in the new one. Sort of like a sleeve puller. Lots of lube too (came with the new ones).
Parts were really inexpensive. All labor (mine).
Hope yours is a easy.
