AC Delco units use a Mitsubishi sensor. No other units use a mitsu sensor. We offer the best bang\buck aftermarket unit.

The only issue is whether or not you're willing to pay 3 times the price for the mitsu sensor, which is by all means a better sensor. If I could get it we would use them, but I simply don't have the resources to order the QTY that they require at the price they want.

There are a couple other factories making aftermarket units besides the units we sell and I would not recommend them. Obviously we're biased, but I held off on selling them until I could put my name on the units.

Delco's are good, not sure of the best place, as I got mine from thepartsladi on the bay and they are out of business.

Accel only makes Gen II, 95-97, under their own name(see below).

Summitracing has their brand(Accel), for Gen I, Delco's and MSD.

Note on Accel, I had one w/40k miles and no problems, dropped WP on it and took it out.

If you get a MSD, take cap off and put locktite on rotor screws.
They say this problem is fixed, but I would rather be safe, then sorry.

Why do you need a new opti?

Cardone is mainly known for rebuilt parts. You would have to check. I know cardone purchases from the factory that we use, so its possible their new optisparks are made in the same factory, but I can't confirm it.

What I can tell you is our prices blow any of those other units out of the water.

Google chandler motorsports optispark, you'll see good things about our units. Just make sure its the opti that you need. Its kind of the scape goat of LT1 problems. Not EVERYTHING is opti related!

Surging and stalling like that, sounds more like a vacuum leak or bad IAC. Never heard of a opti causing surging idle, but I am curious how did they came to the conclusion that the opti was the culprit?

Not second guessing, just questioning. I have seen many problems blamed on the opti and turns out it was not the opti.
How many miles on current opti?

Is there coolant or oil leaking on the opti?

Was the connectors and wires checked for breaks or broken insulation?

Did they pinout the wires to rule out ECM?
ECM's go bad in early LT1's all the time.

The IAC is the throttle body sensor, so I do not think you fixed it.
IAC = Idle Air Control

It controls the idle and if it is not working or set properly, you will get surging, high idle and stalling.

Why did you change the throttle body?

Sounds like you are just throwing money at the problem and not diagnosing.

Also, I would try another shop.

So AC/Delco-Delphi still manufactures Optis?

Several of the aftermarket Opti vendors on Ebay claim GM no longer makes any Optis and they're all outsourced to offshore manufacturers.

Any clarification you can bring regarding this matter is appreciated.

Well its weird. Delco stopped for a while and then Delphi switched from MIM to MIC. Delco started again then.

All the people you see saying that are copying from our listings I haven't updated our listing because we would lose the "momentum" eBay gives you. Some of the listings we have up have 200-300 optispark sales on those listings, so we're not going to modify that, even if Delco is selling them again.

Also, thepartsladi went under. So we're trying to sell the stock units and be the new "thepartsladi." We're negotiating with W/Ds and Delco right now. Hopefully in a month we'll be selling them.

So AC/Delco-Delphi Optis are still available and your company hopes to offer them again soon. That's good to know. Thanks!
