Tomorrow morning I pick up my first vette and time is moving at a snails pace. I'm trying to pass the time by researching all the options I'll have for keeping it in top condition and maybe making an improvement here and there. One itme that is top on my list is doing an oil change with Amsoil's 5w30 and filter. I've read a couple posts discussing a larger filter to increase the amount of oil in the system. Sounds like a really good idea. What filter is recommended when doing this? I assume the larger filter would increase capacity by maybe a half quart.
Not to hijack, but is the AC/Delco PF-52 filter still available? I've heard it's been replaced. If so, what model replaced it? That's the one I've used for the last 10 years since I've had my LT1.
I run the Mobil 1 extended performance filter (#201) which is a longer filter. Not sure if it is a full 1/2 quart more but almost.

I know that with the stock Delco filter, the oil/filter capacity is 5 quarts on the money. That's why I like the five-quart, convenience-sized jugs of M1. Makes oil changes that much easier since they're pre-measured.

I'm also running a Canton 7qt.road race pan so actual volume increase from longer filter is unknown. 7 qts puts my level at about a 1/2 qt low on a stock dipstick.

Are you planning on getting a longer dipstick to compensate?
