Scorp, i have run mine with and without that bracket, both before and after the air pump eliminator....no problems either way. However i made my own air pump eliminator and my alternator is no where near as close to the frame as JDs appears to be. My alternator is pretty ridgid even without the bracket. I removed the bracket for easier access to the plugs. btw, the bracket also fit with my LPE headers using the stock stud. Good luck

Scorp, my brace vanished surring the rebuild.
I built my own brace. no welding, just bending and drilling.
Now, what kind of headers are you looking into?
I had hedmans headers, I had to use a spacer on the exhuast bolt I mounted the bracket to it. I did it just like the stock set up, using the stock exhuast bolt.
I picked up a set of TPIS headers, they use the stock exhuast bolts so I dont need a spacer anymore, they are built in!
