paging everybody with a super ram and 74219 cam setup. What RPM are you shifting at? My car seems to do best with my shift light set at 5k, its a ZF6 car with 100% stock exhaust. My mods are in my sig.
John's catalogue states the powerband for a 383 equipped with a SR and 219 cam is from 1600-6000. I am shifting my auto right around 5800-6000.
Good luck,and enjoy.
If you're running the stock manifolds and cats..you're killing MAJOR power right there. When you can, go to long tube header combo. You won't believe the difference...take it from me, I tried the stock exhaust on my 383 and it castrated it.
I have the same setup and I set the shift light to 5800. By the time I react to the light and the transmission shifts, it hits 6000 perfectly according to Diacom recordings of the runs. I am running 3:73 gears also.
The exhuast is coming off this summer. According to my timeslips I lost .2 shifting at 5200 opposed to 5k. I bet you guys are right thinking alot of it is in the exhaust. It already runs like a scalded cat, I can't wait for more.
