I know the topic has been discussed before, but I´m having a question regarding the removal of the so called frisbee:
I have a 88 Corvette Convertible with the L98 engine.
After reading about the slight power gain I removed my frisbee yesterday. But I have the feeling that I get just a little bit more vibration at idle speed. A/C on or off makes no difference at all!
The vibration is barely noticable and I had to put the frisbee on and off several times to compare before and after. Even so it is hard to figure it out, yet I think the overall vibration is just a tiny bit more without the frisbee.
It can easily be overseen by most people I guess, but I am very sensitive to my engine I assume....
Is there any explanation for this tiny increase in vibration that seem to have nothing to do with the A/C (and therefore the frisbees´intentional purpose)?
I have a 1990 Vert that I purchased 3 years ago. The first thing I did was remove it. Had no problems. My concern was not the a slight power gain but the fact of all that extra weight on the end of the water pump did not sit well with me.
I did it and have no regrets.
Turn up the volume. I removed the frisbee off my 91, and never noticed the vibrarion. I tend to music listen to a bit on the hearty side.
Frisbee on or off, I suspect the difference can only be as good as weight to power ratio, with the frisbee off making an infestestinal difference. No major gains off the line or top end; however, if you want to wake up your L98, drop a 3:54 rear in.
Hehe, I see. There seems to be no problem removing it.
Right now I have the frisee on, next time I get around it will be off.
Thanks
Benjamin
Just remember you have to use a couple small washers on the front of each bolt to shim it out. Without the washers the nuts won't tighten all the way up....WW

You could just get some ARP bolts to replace the studs/nuts. That is what I did. I forget the part number though.
Don't throw the Frisbee away . I found that it makes a great base for a halogen light. I just drilled the light's mounting bracket and bolted it to the Frisbee. Now, the light doesn't fall over, like it did with its original base. Works great and I still have "the original parts that came with the car" for the next owner.
