Default Hood removel tips needed

When I repaint my 91 I plan to also paint the underside of my hood. I'm thinking that I just remove the headlights, unplug the wires for the underhood lights and remove the bolts from the two front hinges and the hood strut. Oh yeah, the upper fenderwells will have to come off too. I am also thinking of having 4 helpers lift it off and hang it from the ceiling of my garage rafters with chains so I can clean it well and paint both sides. I was thinking of hanging it from the front hinge brackets.
I will probably remove the front clip, rear clip, mirrors and paint them the same time as I do the hood, license plate filler, gas lid and my new to me 96-style gill panels.
Anyone done this?
Here is a pic of a 91 ZR-1 that was originally white. I found it at Corvettes at Carlisle 2010. A previous owner painted it competition yellow and did the underside of the hood too. I think it is a good look and will look good in Steel Blue Metallic.

Two man job
Remove lights, have someone support hood while 4 hinge nuts are undone.Hood will sit nicely on hinge studs alone
Disconnect main strut at top , lift hood off
NB;
have a small screwdriver inside the strut retaining clip before you need to release it.
PITA to get a lever inside the clip while balancing hood

I saw that at Carlisle too, it looked great glad I had my sunglasses with me.

Remember, a/c compressor and engine grime will sling on the underside of your hood if its a driver....really no way around it.... also. MARK all bolt hole locations as re-aligning the hood is a nightmare even if youve done it before.....trust me!

I've thought about painting my under hood shinny black and adding one of those under hood chrome kits on ebay. They stick fit to the inset pannel holes under hood and sell for apx 250.00. There is also a chrome plate you can get for under the hood springs at top of hood. Anther cheaper costing effect would be to custom paint the inset pannels areas with a carbon fiber like effect. Hood would have to lay flat to do that. Check out some of the custom painting video's on youtube on doing that,doesn't look to hard to do! You basicly lay rubber shelf matt over these areas and paint over it. Good Luck Tim
