Default Help troubleshooting eng problem

Hi everyone

My 1992 LT1 Corvette was laid up for 3 1/2 months. I did start it twice and allowed it to come to operating temp during it's non use. I had a battery tender on it during this time. I think but I'm not sure if I disconnected it before starting it up. I took it out last weekend for the first time and it is running bad. No power and is popping out of the exhaust. I thought it may be the gas so I put in some octane booster and dry gas with injection cleaner. Still running bad. I am also getting smells like electric or plastic, hard to tell what it is but there is an odor. I ran the tank down to 1/4 and filled it with Sunoco 93 octane. I ran it and it still is the same. I don't have any lights on such as check engine or any other. All the gauges are reading correctly. My question is could I have blown the ECM and not get any check engine lights or any other symthoms? Thanks in advance for any suggestions or help. I don't want to buy an ECM unless I am sure that it is bad.....

Check the fuel pressure, scan for codes, inspect the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor, and check the ignition timing. Just go through all your basics, that's most likely what the problem is.

Right! All we can do at this point is GUESS. You need to do some basic checks first.

Start with the easiest to do things first: spark plugs, plug wires for arcing to ground, fuel pressure (psi, holding steady, etc.)

You need to attach a fuel pressure gauge to the schrader valve on the right side fuel rail. The valve faces downward and should have a black rubber cap on it.

Default Update

I ended up taking the car to a local macanic. He said the car is running on 5 cylinders. He thinks the distributor cap is cracked and is taking it apart to check it out. I will keep you posted......

Thanks again for all the help

It turned out to be the water pump was leaking and it took out the opti-spark. So I just wanted to update this posting and hopefully it can help someone in the future. Thanks to everyone who helped with this problem.......
