Hello all,
I have a 92 convertible 6 speed that kind of "shakes" when I accelerate / get on it. It is a very strange "sound/feeling", if that makes any sense? It is hard to explain and I think "Shakes" is the best I can do? I have a couple of ideas to run by you:
1) Is this just how convertibles behave? (It happens with the hard top on as well)
2) I also noticed the exhaust on the car is not stock. Cheap looking mufflers and NO Resonator? Am I experiencing really bad drone?
Any ideas, cause this thing really sucks as it is!
My 92 vert used to shake and wooble when I hit ruts in the road. I got into autocrossing and put a camber brace and cross bar in her. That got rid of the wooble and most of the other looseness in the frame. Check your rear bearings as they usually have a howling shake when they are worn. Also, check the bushings in the links that hold your rear alignment, camber. Mine were badly worn and my rear tires wore out on the innner edge.
My rear wheel bearings have "play" & around sharp/fast corners when I hit the breaks, the car shakes only when applying the brakes. It don't do it going normal speeds around corners only while going fast & only on corners applying the brakes.Car going in storage soon so I'll worry about it next year(hopefully be working by then)
I checked for play in the bearings and both sides had a little, but not much. Does any play at all mean they are bad? As you know, new hubs are $100 at least and I would like to be sure before shelling out 2 bills.
