'85 with code 34
I only dirve her on weekends and maybe 1 day a week, but about 3 weeks ago i noticed it was hard to keep running in the morning. it would start up ok(a little more sluggish then normal) and then i would have to keep my foot on the gas to keep her running for about 2-3 minutes.
Anyways yesterday i took it out and parked it for about 5 hours at my friends. When i got in it to go home, it started right up but the SES light went on. I backed out of the driveway and when i went to take off it bogged down bad and almost died out...there when a ton of kids running around so i was able to kinda just idle my way down the 4 blocks to the main street. By that time it cleared up and drove fine.
When i got home, i turn her off and started her back up and no SES light, but when i checked for codes it pop code 34.
Since it was raining i thought at 1st a tune up is in order and maybe the distributer cap had moisture under it. but the i checked the code.
Any ideas? or just replace the MAF?
Oh and for what it is worth if it matters in that same time period my tach been acting wierd...like at 0 until heated up then reads normal, i figured maybe the coil/distributer might be going bad.
I just went through the troubleshooting and ran it and disconnected the MAF, it started to run better, and then threw CODE 33!
So from what info i found on here, is if it does that then it IS a bad MAF? The air filter was pretty dirty, can the reduced airflow cause this by any chance?
Thanks
