Default '94 driver side carpet question

I replaced the driver side sill carpet today in my '94 and noticed for the first time that the Bose speaker carpet angles out at the bottom and I'm losing about an inch of foot room. One inch doesn't seem like much except there's only a max of 11" of foot room at that point and every little bit helps.

I'm inclined to put a self-tapping screw or two at the base of the Bose cover to pull it back against the side rail. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks!

John
