Default Changing Axle Ratio

How difficult and expensive is it to have someone who knows how to do it correctly (a chevy dealer) change the axle ratio gear on a C4?

I mean, including the price of the gear.

You are probably looking at close to $1000 but I have not had it done so I cant say for sure. Gears alone will run you around $400.

Wait a second, do you want to have someone do it who knows how to do it correctly, or have the chevy dealer do it?

Costs vary by region/shop, but figure 800 - 900 for the gearset and the setup. Make sure they replace all the seals while you're in there. That would be the price if you remove the rear end yourself and bring it to them.

I bought a 3.07 rear, without the batwing here. Had it installed locally by a local independent mechanic. $400 for the pumpkin and $300 for the check-out and the installation.
(He told me he really enjoys working on "clean" Vettes and requested a picture that he posted on his wall)
Deals are out there, it takes time and research.
Never take a Vette to a "stealership" for a Mod.

Had my 2.6 changed to a 3.54 - gears and full installation kit came to about $500 , fitting it and setting it up came to a further $400-500 , best mod in terms of seat of the pants and bang for the buck imho...

Call these guys. http://www.drivetrainspecialists.com/

They have the gears and can install them. I took the "pumpkin" out and mailed it to them. They sent back with the R&P installed and I put the assembled "pumpkin" back in the car. They did a great job.
