Hello, I have tracked my false oil temp readings back to the sensor being bad. I have an 85 L98 and in my research Ive found that the sensor is located above the filter. What Im wondering nos is if anyone has any words of wisdom before I go after this job. Will I lose any oil? Is it a simple procedure? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.
I would check and clean the connection first to see if that makes a difference. Lots of times when the oil filter is changed, that connection gets knocked around. It's also pretty dirty under there at that spot.
Thanks for the advice! It really was easy...took about 10 minutes to get the sensor loose. However, finding a new one was a different story. Nobody around me had them or even heard of it. One place told me it would cost $130!!!!! Do I need to order it online?
Looks the same to me. Autozone told me they didn't have it. But the woman also asked me what make my Corvette was....so maybe ill try again with a different clerk.

Ask them for an oil temperature 'switch'.
It's the way they've got it listed, instead of a 'sensor'.
The one listed is for an 87, but it should be the same.

Best to tell them AZ ****'s the part number. Ask 'em if they have PS201 and take it from there.
