Default Which shift kit???

I can't get ahold of PeteK so I need a solid answer from you guys please. I found these two shift kits. Which one do you think would benefit a powerful L98 that is a daily driver and might see the strip a little. I want fast firm shifts. Thanks. and it will be installed by my trusted mechanic!!!

If you know one thats better, post a link. It's for a 86 corvette with a rebuild 700R4.

To the best of my knowledge, Pete recommends the Trans-Go for everything except 93's, but it is tougher to install. He also suggests deleting certain steps so if you do pull the trigger on the kit, hold off the install until you get in touch with "the man".

I just had my 86 tranny rebuilt and put in the trans go. I put in the street version, it's firm but not chirp 2nd firm. I think you can move up to the strip version for some real firm shifting. I was afraid it would be too much now I might bring it back to switch to the strip

I have a transgo kit and it works well on the strip.

The Transgo is definitely the way to go but be forewarned, if your mechanic is not experienced with automatics, get one that is. If you call Transgo for help they will tell you that you have no business trying the install. The B&M is a simple kit while the Transgo consists of doing some drilling of the valve body passages and I don't mean enlargement of holes, you will be putting a hole where there isn't one. That said, I did the Transgo myself and I have only rebuilt two transmissions, one of them was with the assistance of PeteK

I have the Transgo shift kit. It firms up the shifts without snapping your neck. I like it.

I had a Superior shift kit installed by Bob @ SWGear when I had my 700r4 rebuilt in January. I like it but you def. get the neckbreaker through second (when the car is running right that is)

For a 700R4 - I'd go the TransGo over the B&M - much better kit...

And like the previous post said - the instructions are not for the complete novice so they're not super detailed if you're looking for a complete pictorial walkthrough - although there is enough info there if you pay attention to details and swap the parts where they say..

That said - I seem to recall some F-body site that had a nicely done pictorial installation procedure - might look on-line for someone that has documented their installation.
