Default Need 89 Engine support rod assist please

I'm restoring an 89 convertible and am down to the finals on the engine. During re-assembly I uh....forgot...where one of the support rods go. The support rods I'm referring to are the rods for the accessories AC, Air pump, alternator, etc.

In the picture the ones I have pointed out are all accounted for and in place. I had to do a little mod to clear the headers, but I'm trying hard to keep it stock. At the end of the day I have one rod remaining that I have no clue where it goes. It's about 6 inches long with bolt holes at each end that are not twisted (rotated) from each other. In other words a straight section except its bent to a shape that resembles an offset screw driver. I've looked everywhere for an image and can't find one.

I borrowed the image that I marked up, since it was the cleanest picture I could find to demonstrate what I'm trying to locate. Thanks in advance for any help, and thanks to whomever's picture I borrowed!

No, unless there are more than one black support rod on the alternator. Currently I have one at the alternator, AC compressor, Air pump, and between the AC compressor and water pump on the forward side of the AC compressor. (so technically 2 at the AC compressor) I still have one to go and can't figure out where it belongs. But thanks for your help. I do have a picture that I could email.

Actually there are three braces on the AC compressor. One at the front to the water pump, one at the rear to exhaust manifold, and one at bottom rear to fuel pump block-off plate.

This sounds like the support from the rear lower(?) compressor mount bolt to the exhaust manifold.

Joeld and Siveck,
You may have nailed it. I'm heading to the garage to dig into it before I put anything else back on. Thank you!!!! I'll let you know.

Vetteoz, and others,

Thanks so much for the drawing and advice. Unfortunately, I have all 3 as shown on the AC compressor drawing above installed. I thought you nailed it, but dug into the car last night and realized that I just hadn't seen the lower forward bracket (6) previous to now. It's buried in the other brackets, but is installed. So, I have (6) (9) and (5) from the above picture all installed. I have 1 more on the Air pump, and 1 more on the alternator. After all of these I have this last one that I can't for the life of me figure out where it goes. It's the same design as all the others, except 6 inches in length and no rotation of the end point. Very close to a strait section.

I hate putting the vette together with an unaccountable part. Reminds me of a bad experience with one of my kids Christmas presents. I had a handful of left over parts!

OK, there is a short brace on the power steering pump that goes to the motor mount. It's hard to see with the exhaust manifold/header installed and even harder to get at with above installed.

OK, I'll try that one tonight. I was afraid that once I figured out where it went it would be buried. I'll let you know. BTW Do you need to have a certain status with the forum to post images?

I found the one on the power steering pump. It runs on the drivers side of the pump to the block / mount. It was already there, so I still have this extra one. It looks about the same length as the power steering pump one.

You need to upload your pictures to a file hosting service and then link their URL. Villagephotos, picasa etc can do this.
