Default Help please

86 coupe when i start the car it starts and runs for about 10-15 seconds and dies.Turn the key off and start it again it runs great until you cut it off. Then it repeats the process. Any ideas what could cause this? I unhooked the air pump and removed the related parts and it started this a few days after. I hooked up the pump and related parts thinking this was the problem but it still happens!!!

Any ideas

Thanks Brian

only when cold, how about when you turn off hot? How long does it have to sit to act up? Miles, mods, maint? What have you checked? Check engine light on? ....................

Well first you need to rent or borrow a fuel pressure tester, they are free at most auto parts store with a small deposit. Check cold fuel pressure before turning the key, running fuel pressure and fuel pressure when it dies, check fuel pressure with key to run not started on next start attempt. Your car also has a cold start valve, it could be bad but usually wont bother anything. post you fuel pressure reading here. Next step would be fuel injection testing then fuel pump test. we can go from there. Also if you have deleted smpg control, you will have to get a new chip burned for the car.

Start it up and as soon as it starts hold the throttle at around 1500 rpm. If that fixes it my bet is the IAC is dirty or broken..
