Default shes gotta couple issues

hi everybody, i picked up a 87 this weekend, its got a couple things i gotta figure out, the vette has a electric heater control that is not working properly, the last owner put a toggle switch with a jumper wire so he could turn the blower on and off, aparantly the heater wont do this itself, the defrost button works and all the temp up and temp down seems to work also. i would love to get rid of the toggle, any ideas on what i should replace or check? also does anyone know where i can get some color match carpet dye? mine is faded pretty bad but not worn or ripped. thank you!

The problem with the blower motor is probably either the switch or the resistor. If you have a test light you should be able to figure it out.

thanks a bunch! Is the switch and the resistor hooked on to the back of the heater control? If not can you tell me where to look and what to look for? Thanks again!

Congrats on your new ride, and welcome to the forum.

If you have electronic climate control (Option code C68, all pushbuttons and no slides), then there is no resistor pack. Instead, there is a blower control module located under the hood atop the evaporator housing. Don't be too quick to ditch the toggle switch. The components are expensive; you could replace them all and still be scratching your head. Spend your first Vette dollars on a factory service manual (Helms not Haynes). While you are waiting for it to arrive, make sure your digital volt meter works. I foresee that you are going to become very proficient at using these tools.

There are some diagnostics and electrical schematics in these pages from my 86 FSM. Should help.
