Default Cruise Diagnosis

Not sure where to start on this one. 95 coupe 6 speed. Cruise stopped working. The vac hoses look ok. What are the common failures for cruise problems?
TIA

Most common cause is the electric side of the brake switch. You will still have brake lights, but the contacts on the cruise side go bad.

Check the vacum hoses that connect to the passanger side intake manifold and the hose that connects to your clutch pedal switch. The hoses that run in front of tbe battery< one of which goes to your clutch through the firewall tends to rot.

On my 89. After replacing the booster. I didn't get cruise anymore and my brake lights stayed on all the time. So, I had to adjust those two switches in closer to the bar on the brake pedal.

Though now the cruise surges when engaged as I can hear it rev up every few seconds while I feel the gas pedal sink in some, then the gas pedal comes back, then it revs again and the pedal sinks back in some. The cruise used to be very steady before the booster swap.

Pedal movement is normal. Sounds like your on a road that is not very "flat". The cruise tries to maintain the speed/mph to which it was "set" regardless of terain elevational differences. If your cruise control "setting" drops speed/mph over a period of time you most likely have a vacuum leak in the cruise circuit.
