Bottle Heater question.

Default Bottle Heater question.

The connections on my bottle heater got hot today...is this normal?

The connections on my NOS bottle heater got so hot that they melted the NOS bottle cover and completely melted the plastic connector covers and left the wires bare. I had had used the heater for two years and it always concerned me. I'm not concerned anymore, as I will never use a bottle heater again, I consider this incident a wake up call. I will never trust such a crude device with my baby again. There's gotta be a better way, the current bottle heater set ups remind me of the heated wires my parents used to thaw the pipes under our old house when I was a kid 45 years ago.

Yep. The darn things need a thermostat to turn them off at a set temp. But without it a 1000 psi is impossible to attain. The best shot is with the heater. but you have to use caution that it is not hooke up to a continueous power supply. You can by a time for the thing. at radio shack and just use the for 30 min to 1 hour heating max then shut off. you can alway reset it when needed

Mine has a thermostat keeps bottle at 85 degress.
