In a sticky on this forum ("suspension rebuild") a poster -- 96GS#007 by name -- mentioned an easier method of removing the spring by jacking up one side of the car and pulling it out the high side. If 96GS#007 or someone else who has done it that way is listening I'd like to have a few more details. Does this mean that you only have to dismember one side?
I'm looking at this job pretty soon and am a big fan of easy routes and shortcuts. I had hoped that starter replacement would be the last project for this season, but when I got under there I could see fraying fibers from the spring. At least the new starter is in -- there isn't much room to wiggle the old one out and the new one in with fuel lines and catalytic converter in the way. Swearing a lot helps. I'll probably have to go all the back to my GI vocabulary for the spring...
