engine temp
i know this cluster is good i had no tac befor tac works perfect
every thing is working except the engine temp gauge it falls
right to the bottom, what else could it be, i was told the cluster was bad help gene eandmy@aol.com
Try working the related 3 postion toggle switch semi agressively on the DIC's switch panel (the panel in the center of the car above where the radio should be...the panel with all the switches) to see if that doesn't get some indications to pop up. Those gauge signals loop through the center DIC panel.
You may also need to reseat the smaller connector (for the DIC switch panel) to the cluster. Other than that you might try grounding the temp sensor's connector at the block to see if you can get the gauge to move.
You may have a defective temp sender which is on the front top of the engine under the MAF. See if the wire is connected to it well. With the ign on, measure the voltage on the temp sensor, if it is 5 volts, then you have an open circuit temp sensor and it should be replaced.
If the old cluster didn't have this specific problem then chances are the problem came with the new cluster you swapped in. You might contact the person who sold you the used cluster and have a little Q&A with them.
