Default 93 Clutch Slave

My clutch slave has leaked fluid into the bell housing and fouled my clutch for the 2nd time in ~ 2 years. I replaced the unit the last time with a GM/AC-Delco part and I used the GM hydraulic fluid. Doesn't this seem too frequent? Changing the clutch due to the fluid contamination is not a casual task!

Is there something I should do different to prevent a recurrance?

tx,

Joe

check input shaft front bearing and crankshaft bushing, if your shaft is vibrating it could cause that problem, also heat, those things are 'sposed to be self adjusting, if your riding the clutch, it would pick up the heat from the metalic parts quicker and 'melt the seal. your hose fitting may be leaking a bit on application that you dont see when its not applied. Change the hose and fittings if applicable. ?

There is a well-documented problem with the GM clutch cylinders. You can read about it at www.zfdoc.com. Most people are having better luck with the aftermarket cast cyls. (Myself included)

Do you have a brand recommendation?

Thanks!

I'll tell you what I am using, not sure if I would call it a recommendation, since both cyl's have only been in the car for about a year and a half. Both came from Rock Auto. The master is a Wagner branded product, made in China (!) and the slave is sold as Perfection Clutch brand, although the box says Brute Power, and is from Taiwan. So far, so good with both of them, maybe 8-9k miles. FWIW, Bill Boudreau of zfdoc, who is an expert on the zf6 trans, recommends using Motul RBF600 racing brake fluid over the GM juice. I just got some, have not put it in yet.
