Default 92-Accelerating problem (clutch?)

Well I thought my car was good to go after all the work i've done but guess not. I had to take my car out last night and noticed that when I hit the gas, the car winds up but nothing as far as accelerating. It still ran fine until I would try and drop the gas a bit....is it the clutch? Fluid? looking for some direction...

probably the clutch - but How many miles?

We have whats known as a dual mass flywheel - they are pretty much unobtanium
So if you need to change the flywheel as well (follow the FSM to check it) you will probably have to go to a single mass.
Do a search here for a dual mass replacement that may not be as noisy as a lighter flywheel.

Did this issue show up all of a sudden? When a worn clutch slips, it develops gradually and is noticeable first in the higher gears. Does the pedal feel normal?

The car has high miles (160K) and seems to of been taken care of well. I've only had it for just over a year so i don't know how long the clutch has been in there. I would say it showed up suddenly but i've only put 500 miles on it this year...pedal does feel fine. I did replace the slave last winter and no issues till this.

It sounds like the prognosis is not favorable. There could be a clutch job in your future. Can you find the previous owner to get an idea of the age of the clutch?

Check with the previous owner and see if they changed the flywheel when they did the clutch. If they did not then you are probably looking for a flywheel replacement as well. 160k on the stock dual mass is fantastic! Do a search for the single mass direct replacement here.

Good luck!

just a quick question, does the rear main leak on your car? if so there is a possibility that there is oil on the clutch disc, that can cause the same thing till the oil is gone
