Hypertech Power Chip?
was on corvettecentral last night and came across this thing...
I'm new to ECM terms and whatnot...
what I'm getting at is- is this thing worth it?
what does it do / supposed to do
is there any extra tuning / parts needed with this "plug and play" chip?
thanks. Zach
I am looking to keep/ add fuel economy and was wondering if this- or something else perhaps would aid me in this search.
the car has an aftermarket eldelbrock throttle body thats all the engine mods i am aware of (it looks like it has an lt-4 head -mostly red w/ the top of the fins silver)
From what I gather you are not going to detect much change going by the feedback on this forum. However, many people seem to have them.
You don't need any tuning equipment as it is just a chip change. Just your time to take the existing one out and put the new one in.
I went down the DIY tuning and datalogging route and spent about $400 on the tuning and datalogging gear from Moates.net (Autoprom + ALDL cable). I have learnt heaps and it is well worth the expense if you want to really get into modifying amd tuning the vette for say drag racing.
I think if you are really interested in tuning then get the gear up front and then its free from then on. I have already changed my tune on my 87 6 times in 6 months. Datalogging really shows you whats happening engine wise which is a good tuning aid and fault finding tool.
