Default Courtesy light failure, '88 Vert

Courtesy lights all fail to light when driver's door opens, but all light when passenger's door opens. Driver's side door jamb switch comes all the way out on its own and pulling & twisting it does nothing. From another post found while searching here, access to remove the switch and to check its wiring connections behind the A-pillar is really difficult (can find no illustration in the FSM). Any suggestions on this problem's cause and fix are much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

In the LH door jamb switch are three contacts. On of the three contacts grounds the courtesy light timer module which turns on the courtesy lights. This switch is either not making contact, or it does not have connection to ground. On my 87 this switch contact has a white wire. Try grounding the white wire on the LH switch to see if the courtesy lights come on. This will prove a connection from the switch to the module and then the switch or its ground remains to be checked.

Thanks. How/where do you get to these wires?

JFB reports (in a PM reply) that the door jamb switch comes out using a deep well socket !!! This is for future reference for anyone with a similar problem. Cheers

Socket is 11mm. My switch has no wires attached. Don't know how to get to the wires: they must be within the A-pillar.
