Central sells Corvette Parts, Jeg's sells for many different cars. When you have an issue with it fitting or with removing something else to use it and you need a Corvette expert, places like Central (and us) will be able to help you, Jeg's will probably not have someone able to answer the phone that has done this before on a C4.
They also may be getting it directly from GM, which is where we get all of ours: C4 Corvette Belt Tensioners
Belt Tensioner from Jeg's $73 (manufactured by Gates) vs. Belt Tensioner from Corvette Central $149. What is the difference other than price?
Bought a belt tensioner for my son's '88 on-line from Rock Auto this Spring for $40. Yes Dayco is an aftermarket part but this it not a critical engine component...it's working well. Link below.... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/foru...l-posting.html

Dayco is the OEM supplier for that tensioner. You can see where they ground off the OEM number to sell it aftermarket. I believe the 86 uses a different tensioner.
On my 89, the Dayco tensioner likes to rattle. I've replaced it once, and it too rattled. I've got another one to see if that one will rattle as well.
