Default mufflers or eliminators??

i have this set-up: http://www.melroseheaders.com/produc...ystems/c-4.php

and as you can see it says they measure back to the orignal mufflers. butt i was thinking i should change the muffers to eliminators or should i get better mufflers? which is better for the car? i know the mufflers taking out will shave som weight off but is it bad for the car? also what are some good eliminators or mufflers to get? but i dont wanna lose hp at all though.

It's not so much a matter of no muffler being good or bad for the car. It's how obnoxious do you want to be. Mine had eliminators on it when I got it. It was fun for about 10 minutes, after that it was obnoxious. You can't really talk if you're driving around town. Even with the Magnaflows I got it's still fairly loud inside, but on the freeway at cruise, it's plenty quiet for a performance car.

It depends on whether you want loud or moderate sound. Do you have cats? If you have no cats you need mufflers or it will be terribly loud and you will not like it. I have a 96 with stock exhaust and eliminators. To me it's just right but I wouldn't doubt it if I lost a little hp from loss of back pressure. I did it for sound not power though. I just had a muffler shop cut the mufflers out and weld straight pipes with the stock tips for $125 and would do it again with any LTX corvette. If you want good mufflers with little to no drone you need Corsa. Most others have some drone but are cheaper. Ecklers, Midamerica, Corvette Central, ebay have eliminators and mufflers. Neither are bad for the car and to me it's more personal preference on sound/look and how much money you want to spend. The rest of your exhaust which is awesome, will affect the power more than the mufflers will.

Here's a system I think you will be happy with: You already have the long tube headers. I used Hedman long tube headers, removed all the cats and ran straight pipes from the down pipes on each side to a Magnaflow resonator that had two inlets and outlets. I ran the rest of the way with straight pipes into a pair of Corsa mufflers. The sound is great at wot but when cruising you can hear, think, talk, and listen to the radio. (sometimes all at once! 0).

Here is the video of my car with the new motor and just the cat convertor. I have no precats and no mufflers, just the catalitic convertor with a set of Hooker headers..I don't think its to load and I can carry on a conversation inside with no problem...

The second video sounds awesome. I think this might be the way I go with mine.
