1992 LT1 series P with 140,000 miles. I installed new fuel pump but problem remains. Should I replace pump relays, or have ECM remanufactured? Any suggestions appreciated. Joe Mayer

Do you have spark? What is your fuel pressure before and during cranking?
When the failure occurs and I try to start, the engine frequently fires once and dies. I have insatalled a complete new ignition system within a year. Battery, coil, distributer, plugs and wiring. When the engine starts normally, it roars into life on first crank. I have to assume plenty of spark is available. A brand new fuel pump last week didn't make any difference so I assume fuel pressujre is not the problem however I don't have the ability to test the pressure. The factory manual indicates intermittant failures are most likely due to electrical connections, or defective relays. Joe

Testing the fuel pressure and spark by buying a gauge ($50) and a meter ($20) is much cheaper than changing parts hoping it might fix the issue.

Joe, you never said that you changed the fuel filter. You may have overlooked that.
