Default My 87 Corvette gets warm inside while driving, why?

I have an 87 that i just restored and started driving and it seems that when i am driving it gets a little warm inside almost like the heater is on low but is not. Is it normal for these cars to get warm inside while driving? If so what can i do to help the situation? Any advice?

C4s are quite warm inside, especially earlier C4s like your '87. It's normal. And if you think it's toasty now, just wait 'til the summer time!

There are heat reducing mat sets that install under the carpet which you can get. I don't know how well they work (I don't have one of these sets on my '89) but I imagine they make living with these cars MUCH more bearable. Later C4s had anti-heat matting factory installed.

My 89 feels like the heater is on all the time. Not so great in the summer but nice and toasty in the fall and winter.

Ok Thanks guys. I thought there might be something wrong with my car. Sounds like it is normal. I wonder why the C4s are warm like that?

It's not just C4s but Corvettes in general. Apparently with the C6 Z06 you can put stuff in the center console and it gets very hot inside. It's present in all of them, just the newer models do a better job of hiding it.

Like Cuisinart said...you're sitting inches away from the transmission and exhaust; both of which generate tremendous amounts of heat. And if you think its hot in a Corvette, try driving a Viper...even with the A/C on max, those cars are hotter than he11. Not that I condone driving a Viper, I'm merely using it as a comparison tool...

Along with my C4, I have owned a C5Z06 and currently an 08 Z06. The last two are much hotter than the C4.

My black on black 91 Vette doesn't feel any hotter than any other car I've driven in the summer heat.

My 91 is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. I always use the Heater or AC to regulate the temps, no complaints here.

The car is made of molded INSULATION, once its hot its hard to cool off. Especially hot in FL during the summer with no A/C. I generally put my car up for the summer or only drive it occasionally at night. I also carry a sweat rag with me

let's see, you have this large oval aluminum box just under the passenger compartment.....inside that box is a matrix of screen mesh......that screen mesh is glowing hot while it converts unburned aromatic hydrocarbons into harmless gas......

insulate that oval glowing box from your car and you may have the answer.

Ask anyone that has removed their Cats.....it is much cooler in the passenger compartment and merely opening the windows is sufficient.........like the cars of the 70s.

Well i found out why i was getting so much heat. The cable that connects from temperature controller to the temperature box underneath the passenger dash was rusted and stuck on heat. So i used WD40 and fixed it and now the cable moves freely. Man what a difference now, nowhere near as hot. Much cooler.

Did you not feel the heat coming out of the vents?
