Hey guys,
Im at that point im going to get a cat back exhaust and possible header back exhaust it's either going to be random tech hi flo cat's or stock not sure yet with either power effects rear exhaust or corsa this is for my '89 mostly stock. what do you recommend?
I thought I heard someone on the forum saying that Corsa was about to release an L98 cat back system. I/they could be wrong but I am pretty sure I read that last week. No one would really have an opinion on it though because it hasn't been sold to the public.
1 it's in every mid america mag going for corsa
2 Im also considering muffler elimnators since they only bolt in the factory mufflers are only clamped on right? take me 20 minutes to remove and install pipes and save alot of loot.
3 what about tri-flo?
all of which has 89 l98 applications
I must read wrong... Im getting the mag now no corsa doh! .. tri flo is 2 1/2 inch 304 stainless and then theres power effects and finally eliminators for $100 bucks...
ohh also does anyone have pics of power effects or tri flo on l98 also what about sound clips of the 3 :) I will order something by friday......
I have eliminators on my car and it's the best 50 bucks I've spent.. the way I looked at it was before I put up the 800 to 1300 for an exhaust on my car.. it was worth giving the eliminators a try, if I liked it.. great, if not I was only out 50 bucks. You can go to a local exhaust shop and they can make them up for you for less then 100 normally.
If I had choose between B&B and Power Effects, I'd go power Effects all the way.. awesome sounding ,adjustable and I haven't heard a single complaint from anyone that has them, but I do hear people complain about the resonance with the B&B.
It's a tough choice.. best thing to do is head to a local vette show if possible and listen to other cars.
Im thinking of going to the cartek challenge on 4/6 to hear the exhausts in action.. the cars actually move.. every car show I been to they are too busy cleaning.. :) I was wondering which way I should go.. the power effects capsules in the cheezy pic in mid america look ok.. anyone got them installed on a L98 and can show rear pics??
Unfortunately, my digital camera is at the factory getting fixed :(
I like my power effects for the most part. The resonance can be a bit annoying at low speed, but at highway speed they're almost as quiet as stock, and love the sound at wot.
Added bonus, my wife hates riding in the vette because of the "noise"
:D
I just installed a 3" B&B TriFlo system on my 1996 LT4. I considered Corsa but I could not convince myself that it made sense to replace the stock 2 3/4" pipes with the Corsa 2 1/2" pipes. Corsa claimed it made sense but I was not convinced.
The TriFlos were not without problems. I spent two weeks trying to get them on without success. First the pipe from the converter to the resonator did not have the correct offset. B&B replaced it. They said that some of the 96s have a different offset and there's no way to know without actually looking at it. Then I could not get the rear sections to install. Fortunately I live within driving distance of their facility (which is in Phoenix) so I was able to talk to them face to face. In the end they had to modify the rear pipes and they finished the install for me. No charge. Can't complain about that.
The quality of their system is excellent. My problems may have been an exception not the rule. They were very willing to make things right. So I give them high marks there. I'm happy with the system. :)
Power Effects. Maybe its just me, but I love the adjustability. With the hookers, highflow cat, and PEs wide open... I sometimes set off car alarms when I start the car. :yesnod:

:yesnod: Whenever I start the vette in the garage, I have to disarm the alarm on my other car. Otherwise it will go off.
