Default New best but no 10's!

I ran my car in the sig yesterday, with my new USM intake and good air (DA was around 0) and it ran 11.03 at 122.31 MPH but I could not break into the 10's and I do not believe it has enough power to do it. My 2 good runs were as follows. 1.479 60 ft, 7.06 @ 96.85 1/8, 11.06 @ 121.83 1/4 and then a 1.488 60 ft, 7.03 @ 97.12 1/8, 11.03 @ 122.31 1/4. On the third run the car bogged right after launch because the fuel tank was too low (5/8 tank) and then came back to life and ran 11.31 at 120 MPH.

After the third run I quite because I was afraid I would end up breaking the completly stock rear supension and I was 90 miles from home without a trailer. I cannot believe how hard this car launches with the only modification to the rear supension being drag radials. I launch the car at 1000 RPM and it just hooks and goes.

On the third run I did try more RPM at launch but that was when it bogged and fell on its face. If everything is perfect it may run a 10 but I want to be able to run 10's in any weather so I guess I will have to make some other changes.

1986 Coupe, auto, 3.45 gears, 1973 406, 11.5 to 1 compression, SLP cold air, gutted MAS, 58 MM throttle body, USM Stealth ram, ported 23 degree Trick Flow Heads, ZZX cam, TPIS headers, TCI 3000 stall, 3" duel exhaust, Cheap and easy free mods, custom chip, daily driver
RWHP 460 @ 6250, RWTQ 442 FTLBS @ 5300 gasoline

Best run
60 ft = 1.479
1/8 = 7.03 @ 97.12
1/4 = 11.03 @ 122.31

Nice 60' times!

Go back to the track when there is a slight tail wind.

Very impressive. Maybe put some front runners on, delete the spare tyre assembly and skip lunch. That should be enough for a 10.

I thought about those options but I ran it exactly the same as I do on the street with my stock rims and spare tire (I do own front runners). If I could run less then 3/4 tank of fuel I am sure that would also help.

Love those 11.0 passes "teasing the 10's"
This sounds like what I'm up against with my '85

This is the round fuel pot installed between the fuel tank and the engine that race cars use to stop the problem you are having with the fuel pick up sucking air.

Electric water pump and I think you are running out of fuel? I would losen the fuel cap and see if that makes a diff
I run those 60' on a good day and I run 9's

I need to get a wideband in the car, that will eliminate any possible AFR question.

This was my first run since figuring out the balancer issue, fixed it on Friday, and ran on Sunday.
